Meeting point

Welcome to San Benedetto del Tronto, one of Italy’s most beautiful coastal towns and a meeting point for visitors from all over Europe.

Confirmed as Blue Flag 2022 – a certificate that awards the town certifying the environmental quality of both the beach and the tourist landing. San Benedetto is the queen of the Riviera delle Palme, and offers its guests a comfortable, welcoming and peaceful stay, among the beaches that, framed by a backdrop of palm trees and oleanders, evoke in the minds of tourists wonderful and faraway relaxing exotic scenery.

Blue Flag 2022, San Benedetto del Tronto offers its guests a complete welcome, an enchanting landscape and the best services. The seafront promenade, which continues for more than 15 km, is lined with a wide bike path and thematic gardens, relaxation areas and also play areas for children. Real natural spaces on the sea from which to admire the view or access the beach.

It is precisely the seafront promenade that acts as a link between two important Piceno seaside resorts: Grottammare and Porto D’Ascoli. The first, the pearl of the Adriatic, is characterized by its ancient medieval village overlooking the sea and its orange scent by the groves that wave through the small streets. Porto D’Ascoli on the other, which, with the Sentina Regional Nature Reserve, elects itself as a rare testimony to the marshy environment on the Adriatic coast.

Not only nature: art is the undisputed protagonist of San Benedetto del Tronto, with Ugo Nespolo’s sculpture Lavorare, lavorare, lavorare, preferisco il rumore del mare, means “to work, work ,work I prefer the sound of the sea”, Cleto Capponi’s “Monument to the Fisherman,” and, along the south pier, “The Jonhatan’s Way,” the monument dedicated to the seagull Jonathan Livingston created by artist Mario Lupo.

The South Pier is characterized by the “MAM” Museo d’Arte del Mare, inaugurated in June 2012 and which has become a permanent open-air museum, which houses 145 works of art, of which 135 are sculptures and 10 large murals. International symposium “Scultura Viva” involving 130 artists from 37 countries; do not miss the sculptural group in travertine created by the naive master sculptor Giuseppe Straccia, consisting of a “Madonna” placed on the rocks and facing a spectacular “Nativity of Jesus” immersed but visible in the sea water.

The pedestrian area, also known as the “Island of art” due to the numerous works and sculptures created by nationally and internationally renowned artists, is embellished with “To see through is not to see into” – “Looking through is not like look inside” – Mark Kostabi’s homage to San Benedetto del Tronto: a humanoid with an open window on his heart, a symbol of a humanity that risks homogenization and anonymity but which despite everything does not give up its unrepeatable uniqueness and opens his heart to the world.
The offer is completed by the Palazzina Azzurra, symbol of the tourist vocation of the town as well as, today, the site of exhibitions and a public park full of plants and flowers of a thousand colors, as well as the work of Marco Lodola “Vale&Tino”, and, in the Porto area, the Museo del Mare, a museum pole entirely dedicated to the sea, the hub of maritime culture and ancient trades supporting fishing.

Bed Art is located just 100 meters from the “Sistini del Piceno Museums”, next to the “Madonna della Marina” Cathedral, and five minutes from the historic Concordia Theater.

From San Benedetto it is possible to reach, in a few tens of minutes, territories rich in history and culture, from Ascoli Piceno to the ancient village of Offida or, for mountain lovers, the Sibillini, the Gran Sasso and the Monti della Laga.

Fans of typical local cuisine cannot miss the classic and historic “Sanbenedettese fish broth”, a symbolic dish of the classic seafood cuisine of the Adriatic, or the “Sailor’s coffee”, the best way to end lunch or dinner!
